North Report
An internal reporting platform that North Inc. built and operates itself, used to consolidate advertising performance across platforms.
North Inc. is a digital marketing agency in Tokyo, Japan. We manage paid search and display advertising on behalf of client companies, and their Google Ads accounts are linked to our manager account (MCC 615-276-0062) with each client's approval.
North Report consolidates delivery results from several advertising platforms (Google Ads / Yahoo! Japan Ads / Microsoft Advertising) into BigQuery and normalises them into a common set of metrics. Support for Meta Ads is being added. Each client we work for has a dedicated report screen.
Our account managers no longer have to open each platform's console separately: daily, weekly and monthly trends, the breakdown by campaign, and changes in cost per conversion are all followed on one screen.
Client names and performance figures in the screenshots are masked under our confidentiality obligations.
We manage our clients' advertising accounts through a Google Ads manager account (MCC, ID 615-276-0062). The API is used solely to read performance data from the accounts linked to that manager account.
Day-to-day results at campaign, ad group and ad level are retrieved through BigQuery Data Transfer Service, and we intend to keep using it. Asset-level results (headlines, descriptions and images) cannot be obtained from that service — in our own transferred tables, asset performance rows for HEADLINE and DESCRIPTION field types are absent, asset names for text assets are empty, and image asset URLs are not present in the schema. The Google Ads API fills exactly that gap, so that we can compare which creative performs better.
The data retrieved is used only inside North Report, for the clients whose accounts it came from. It is not made public, sold or licensed to any third party.
Retrieved data is stored in BigQuery within our own Google Cloud project and is used only to display reports. Each client has a separate dataset and access is granted per dataset, so one client's data is never visible in another client's report.
We do not retrieve or store personally identifiable information. The data consists of aggregated delivery metrics and creative content (ad text and image URLs) belonging to the advertiser.
Credentials — the developer token, OAuth client ID and secret, and refresh tokens — are held in Google Secret Manager. They are not written into source code or configuration files. If a client relationship ends, the account link to our manager account is removed and we stop retrieving data for that account.
